A Message from our President, Jan Stefans

With tears in our eyes we said goodbye to our President Linda Berryman on a beautiful August night in the garden.  While she held the helm for only a year Linda made a big impact on our club.  Our loss is Michigan's gain...hey, Midland look out for the blonde dynamo heading your way!  The Executive Board has voted me to fill Linda's garden clogs for the next year.

More than thirty years in the making we have finally filed for our 501C-3 non-for profit status.  Thanks to our team Mary Lou Barlett, Barb Gilman, Rick Sanders, Meg Zimmerman and our driving force Linda Berryman for making this happen.  Now we wait...the government is processing!

Our new V-P of Programs Karen Kravitz has been very busy booking our year's worth of general meeting programs. Coming up on the agenda I am looking forward to Kim Hartman, from Countryside Flowershop's September 20th presentation at Ryerson's Welcome Center.  Kim will get us into our autumnal hues.  We have a new "Talking Dirt" news reporter, Linda Lutz.  Her first article will appear in the October newsletter.  If she asks you for some "dirt" please give her a shovel full.  Eve Jacobs, our Field Trip Co-ordinator will be sending out a "save the date" e-mail for our first trip to Morton's Arboretum in Lisle, IL.  Please look for for it. Kathy Boss is joining our leadership team as our Photographer and Scrapbooker.  Barb Gilman will remain our Historian and give over her camera duties to Kathy this year. Wow, the LGC is in high gear!  Won't you consider joining us in one our many endeavors as a leader or planner?  See you on the 20th for another fun filled year of gardening, friendship, and fun.

And remember "Keep those hands Dirty".

Look Who’s Budding Now, by Linda Lutz

With Karen Kravitz becoming the Vice President of Programs, Linda Lutz has graciously stepped up to be our new Look Who's Budding Now columnist.  If Linda asks you to be our featured member, please say Yes.  We all love to get to know our follow members better.
